Pea Soup with Smoked Meat
A hearty and fragrant soup made with yellow split peas and tender pieces of smoked pork. The vegetables add rich flavour, and the smoky meat makes this a true rustic favourite.

- Yellow split peas — 250 g
- Smoked ribs — 500 g
- Potatoes — 4 pcs
- Carrot — 1 pc
- Onion — 1 pc
- Water — 2.5 l
- Salt and pepper — to taste

Soak the peas in cold water for 3 hours, then drain.

Pour fresh water into a pot, add smoked ribs and bring to a boil. Cook for 1 hour.

Add the peas and cook for 20 minutes.

Dice the potatoes, chop the carrot and onion.

Add vegetables to the pot and cook until the peas and vegetables are completely tender (another 15–20 minutes).

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Tip: use meaty smoked ribs for a richer flavour.
